Secretary of the Senate and Sergeant at Arms Return for 115th Congress
Secretary of the Senate Julie E. Adams and Senate Sergeant at Arms Frank J. Larkin will continue their service
WASHINGTON, D.C. -Today, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) announced that Julie E. Adams will return as the Secretary of the Senate and Frank J. Larkin will return as the Senate Sergeant at Arms. Both are returning to their respective positons after being nominated by McConnell at the beginning of the 114th Congress.
The Secretary of the Senate has the responsibility of maintaining the day-to-day functions of the Senate through a number of legislative, financial, and administrative duties, as well as coordinating two of the largest technology initiatives in Senate history -- bringing state-of-the-art efficiency to the management of legislative and financial information.
Mary Suit Jones will continue as Assistant Secretary of the Senate, a position she held during the 114th Congress and from 2003 – 2007.
The Sergeant at Arms is the Senate’s chief law enforcement and protocol officer, and principal administrative manager for most support services in the United States Senate. The largest in size of staff and budget in the Senate, the office of the Sergeant at Arms is also responsible for all Senate computers and technology support services, recording and photographic services, printing and graphics services and telecommunications services. The Sergeant at Arms also provides assistance to all Senate offices with their staffing, mailing, purchasing and financial needs.
James W. Morhard will continue as Deputy Senate Sergeant at Arms, a positon he held during the 114th Congress.
