WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) released the following statement regarding the release of Pastor Andrew Brunson:

“I am so glad that Pastor Andrew Brunson is on his way home at long last. For two years, the bravery and the faith that he and his family have displayed have inspired all of us. Today, the nation rejoices alongside them. I’m grateful for President Trump’s leadership, and for the hard work of Sen. Lankford, Sen. Tillis, and all my colleagues who have worked closely with the administration to secure this result. I hope the conclusion of this ugly episode will mark a turning point toward better days for the important relationship between the United States and Turkey.”
