McConnell Statement on Jean Rounds

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) issued the following statement today regarding the passing of Jean Rounds:

“Elaine and I are heartbroken to learn of the passing of Jean Rounds.

“As long as I’ve known Mike, anyone who spent even a few minutes with him would quickly realize that Jean was the center of his world. Jean was an impressive and active public servant, a cherished First Lady of South Dakota, and a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother at the center of the tight-knit family that Jean and Mike built together. By all accounts, Jean’s bravery and the family’s unity in the face of illness made their bright example of faith, love, and partnership shine that much brighter.

“The entire Senate is standing behind our friend Senator Mike Rounds and holding him and the entire Rounds family in our thoughts and prayers this evening.”
