Leader McConnell Speaks With Prime Minister Trudeau
‘It is encouraging to see our neighbors working enthusiastically to make the USMCA a reality. Mexico’s Senate ratified the agreement this week. Canada’s legislature has started its process. Prime Minister Trudeau and I discussed ways to continue this progress.’
WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) released the following statement after a phone call this evening with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau:
“I was glad to speak with Prime Minister Trudeau today. We discussed several important matters that the United States and Canada are tackling together as neighbors and friends. In particular, the Prime Minister and I discussed our strong support for the USMCA, a landmark trade agreement that stands to greatly benefit the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
“It is encouraging to see our neighbors working enthusiastically to make the USMCA a reality. Mexico’s Senate ratified the agreement this week. Canada’s legislature has started its process. Prime Minister Trudeau and I discussed ways to continue this progress.
“I urge Speaker Pelosi and the House Democrats to catch up to our neighbors and begin to advance the USMCA. American workers, families, and job creators deserve this major win.”
