Jennifer Hemingway to Serve as Senate Deputy Sergeant at Arms

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) announced today the appointment of Jennifer Hemingway as the Senate Deputy Sergeant at Arms, effective December 3rd. She will replace Jim Morhard who was recently confirmed by the Senate to serve as the Deputy Administrator of NASA.

“We are very glad to have someone with Jennifer’s expertise and experience join such a talented team at the Sergeant at Arms,” said Leader McConnell.  

Hemingway most recently served as Director of House Operations for Speaker Ryan. She served previously as Staff Director for the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, and has held various legislative and leadership positions in both the Senate and House of Representatives. She earned her master’s degree in Public Administration from George Washington University and her bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida.

The Sergeant at Arms is the Senate’s chief law enforcement and protocol officer, and principal administrative manager for most support services in the United States Senate. The largest in size of staff and budget in the Senate, the office of the Sergeant at Arms is also responsible for all Senate computers and technology support services, recording and photographic services, printing and graphics services and telecommunications services.
